Murphy　The　Irish　Spy
The　CIA　loses　track　of　one　of　its　operatives,　and　so　calls　in　one　of　their　top　hunters．
The　CIA　boss　says,　“All　I　can　tell　you　is　that　his　name　is　Murphy　and　that　he's　somewhere　in　Ireland．　If　you　think　you've　located　him,　tell　him　the　code　words,　‘The　weather　forecast　calls　for　mist　in　the　morning．’　If　it's　really　him,　he'll　answer,　‘Yes,　and　for　mist　at　noon　as　well．’”
So　the　spy　hunter　goes　to　Ireland　and　stops　in　a　bar　in　one　of　the　small　towns．　He　says　to　the　bartender,　“Maybe　you　can　help　me．　I'm　looking　for　a　guy　named　Murphy．”
The　bartender　replies,　“You're　going　to　have　to　be　more　specific　because,　around　here,　there　are　lots　of　guys　named　Murphy．　There's　Murphy　the　Baker,　who　runs　the　pastry　shop　on　the　next　block．　There's　Murphy　the　Banker,　who's　president　of　our　local　savings　bank．　There's　Murphy　the　Blackˉsmith,　who　works　at　the　stables．And,　as　a　matter　of　fact,　my　name　is　Murphy,　too．”
Hearing　this,　the　spy　hunter　figures　he　might　as　well　try　the　code　words　on　the　bartender,　so　he　says,　“The　weather　forecast　calls　for　mist　in　the　morning．”
The　bartender　replies,　“Oh,　you're　looking　for　Murphy　the　Spy．　He　lives　right　down　the　street　on　the　left．”
爱尔兰间谍墨菲
中央情报局与他们的一名特工失去了联系，于是把一位高级间谍猎头召来。
中央情报局头子说：“我所能告诉你的是，他叫墨菲，在爱尔兰的某个地方。如果你认为自己找到他了，就与他对暗号：‘天气预报说早晨有雾。’如果真是他，他就会回答：‘是的，而且预报说中午也有雾。’”
于是这名间谍去了爱尔兰，来到一个小镇的一家酒吧。他对酒吧侍者说：“或许你能帮我的忙，我在找一个叫墨菲的人。”
侍者回答说：“你得说得再具体点，因为这儿叫墨菲的人很多：有面包师墨菲，在临近街区开糕点店；有银行家墨菲，是我们当地储蓄银行的行长；有铁匠墨菲，在破屋子里干活。还有，其实我也叫墨菲。”
闻听此言，这名间谍在心里合计，或许也可以用暗号试探一下这位侍者，于是他说：“天气预报说早晨有雾。”
